I have traveled to so many vegan/vegetarian friendly places in the world. I ate in health-conscious spots in Egypt, Turkey, Holland, the US, Italy just to name a few- but no one beats the Tel Aviv cuisine!

Tel Aviv is truly one of a kind city- filled with beautiful people, a gorgeous beach promenade, insane nightclubs and yes, the best healthy joints where you can either grab a quick bite or sit down to have a five-course meal. Home of Eyal Shani- the tomato lover, and other chefs who have made a world renown kitchen out of just vegetables, Tel Aviv is heaven for those looking for a vitamin packed meal.

Here is my list of 5 of my top spots I like to go when I want something healthy, vegan/vegetarian, and delicious to eat.

Meshek Barzilay- Ahad Ha'Am St 6

One of the oldest vegan restaurants in Tel Aviv, this staple is a MUST! Every season they have a new menu that they revamp so this place is never boring. Start off with a house chai, if there is a special menu, I would try the dishes from there, but if not, try the avocado panjabi as an appetizer and the mushroom dish for your main, but really, you can't go wrong here, everything is so good. Not looking to sit down for a whole meal? Try their deli next door. Personally I think the food there is even better anyway (umm, the lasagna at the deli is to die for). Bring your own dish to help save the planet, and then splurge on all the goodies the deli has to offer.

Green Roll-Montefiore St 30

This tiny hole in the wall is one of the more tasty sushi I have ever tasted- and yes! It's vegan! Try the sweet carrot roll, the dragon roll, and the cantana roll for starters. If their sushi wasn't enough, their sauces are simply wow and a delicious addition to their beautiful plating- vegan spicy mayo, and their homemade teriyaki.

Kaymak- Levinsky St 49

In the heart of Levinsky street lies this super chill, laid back cafe with the vibes of India and the taste of the surrounding Shuk. The menu changes daily so you really can't get more fresh than that. On Fridays, this is the spot to come to if you want a hearty couscous or meet friends over a black coffee.

Puaa- Rabbi Yohanan St 8

Shuk Hapishpeshim is probably one of the hottest spots to visit while in Tel Aviv (I mean, that's probably one of the reasons I chose to live here). The area is filled with cute little cafes and designer stores but the one spot that has my heart is Puaa. The food is exceptional-we usually share the Pumpkin Dumplings and the Musaka because they are both unbelievable. Did I mention that every piece of furniture/plate/cutlery is for sale there? Yup, pretty cool, and very in line with the flea market vibes.

Bana- Nachmani St 36

Plant-base heaven, very on trend with the LA/city vibes. Bana has a minimalist menu but pretty much everything on there is good. A bit more pricey than the other spots I mentioned above, but definitely worth the go. Add one of their special cocktails to your brunch to make for a perfect day!
